General Environmental Science, Inc. (GES) is a leading global developer and manufacturer of bacterial based products for improved purification of aquatic systems. GES was founded in 1974 by Mr. Barton Gilbert in response to the growing concern of the problems of municipal wastewater treatment.

GES initially specialized in bacterial products for municipal wastewater treatment. Over time GES developed products and technologies to improve all types of wastewater treatment, including municipal wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, aquaculture wastewater treatment and lake and pond remediation.
